Welcome

East Durham Children's Initiative is our chance to join together to create a pipeline for children in East Durham from birth to college or career by providing a continuum of support for families and children. Our commitment is to partner with the residents and other stakeholders in the area to help the children in the area succeed – with the goal that every child finishes high school and is college or career ready.

We will do this together by:

1. Starting early – making sure our children are healthy and are ready for school.
   

2. Creating a pipeline of support from birth through college and career – maintaining the continuity of best practices throughout
   

3. Involving parents and community residents in all aspects.
   

4. Creating physical and community environments that support our children and families
   

5. Designing schools for success
   

6. Using data to ensure that we are on the right track
   

7. Keeping the focus on children
